What an amazing race, I mean, busy day! - Oct 12

It will be hard to wrap up this busy day in a single blog, but I will try.

The morning started with a computer-based evaluation of our math skills from grade 3.  The students were using laptops to work through a short 25 question evaluation and they worked real hard.  These evaluations are not for grades and will not be part of their records.  These are a good indicator for me, their current teacher, and the support staff to see where the students are at and where we should be focusing more of our attention when it comes to the material we should be teaching.  If anyone has any questions about this, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Following this, we did some Raz-kids.  Some students were even able to finish their French assignments.  Please try and do those over the weekend.

Our top Stars Earners this morning were:

  1. Isabella
  2. Kaitlyn
  3. Max

We will see again Monday 😉

After the first recess the students had Hymn Sing, which we followed up with the two spelling tests and we wrapped up the morning by going to see our buddies in Grade 1 and helping them log onto their computers and their Raz-Kids accounts.  I was so proud of all the grade 4s.  They were all so kind and helpful with their buddies. :)  They deserve a hug just for that 😃

Before lunch, the students also had Choir tryouts and they will be able to tell you all about how that went.

After lunch, we had a short recess.  Thank you Mr. Harries!!!! :)  It meant the world to us as we missed our lunch recess and were not going to have another one because of the awesome visit from Teacher's Pet.

Now... the visit...

Here are some photos.  The students will tell you that it was a truly amazing race where they learned a great deal about each of the 6 regions of Alberta.  We will be going over the material they learned in French in the coming weeks, but this was a fabulous overview of all the regions just before we start going even deeper into each one.  I think we all had fun :)

And... (drumroll) the best place for our new town is - either Parkland or Grasslands region :)

Great job teams!!!!!  THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUR HELP!

Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to do our sharing circle at the end of the day again, so, at the suggestion of Xavier, I think these will move to Friday mornings and then we can make sure to do them :).  Thanks for the suggestion Xavier.

FOOD DRIVE
As many of you may have noticed, as you enter the school you can see a table where we are collecting donations for the St. Vincent de Paul and Knights of Columbus food drive.  Please take a moment and send a small donation as there are many in our communities who are in need and could really benefit hugely from a small token a kindness.

Have a WONDERFUL weekend everyone!
