Dyctalographie et timbres... - Nov 14

Well... due to technical difficulties, yesterday's blog did not make it to light.  However, I will sum up yesterday into today's blog....

WE WON!!!! - YEAY... GRADE 4 WON THE MATHATHON CHALLENGE WITH THE MOST MONEY RAISED.

PIZZA LUNCH IS COMING OUR WAY :)

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENTS AND THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING SUPPORTERS!

CONGRATS ALSO TO ISABELLA WHO WON THE MOVIE PASS DRAW!!!!

What else did we do?  Well, in the morning Mr. Harries came and talked to the class about having a Champion.  Here is a great video about it.  He also did a survey with the students.  Mme got a chance to catch up on some marking of amazing work done by the students. :)
Every Kid Needs a Champion

We then went to the library and wrapped up the morning talking about World Kindness Day and how we could be kinder to everyone in the school and around us.

The afternoon we worked on our Alberta Research while some students also started working on their designs of brand new Alberta stamps.

So, how did we top that today?  Well, tough to do, but we tried...

This morning we started with Typing.  During this time some students will be going out to read French books, with someone from our support staff, in small groups or individually.  All students will participate in this and everyone will get an extra 10-15 minutes a day of reading.  If you got a chance to read my previous post, you will have seen that even 10 minutes can have a monumental impact on the vocabulary the students are exposed to.

We then continued with Math, working on estimating sums.  One thing I've noticed is that students often just write the answers and I have been asking them to show me the work too.  Please help reinforce this at home when they are doing homework.  This is especially important in word problems, with rounding, estimating, and any other work where errors could be retraced.

We did a bit of music as well using the recorders.  We will try to do this every day for the rest of the week but students are already getting better at blowing into the recorders gently.

For the rest of the morning we read Le Petit Prince, worked on our French Raz-Kids books and even did a bit of Religion.  We started a video on Prayer with Father Rob Galea but we could not finish, so please check it out tonight.  He is a very inspiring priest.

We then, once again finished off the day with our Alberta symbols research and then we all worked on our stamps.  Many are getting close to being finished, so we should have some amazing work displayed in our hallway soon.  Such an amazing group of artists we have here.

And that wraps up two very busy days.  2 more to come this week :).
