On a roll again - Nov 19

Today, we started the day (and really the week) with our usual Sharing Circle.  Students not only get a chance to tell us all what they did on the weekend, but they also get to practice saying it all in French.  I enjoy hearing about all their weekends.  They are usually much more interesting than mine :). 

In Math, we continued working on doing additions using mental math strategies.  Time flies incredibly fast when we are working.  Today we made use of our base 10 blocks as well to help us work out some of the strategies. 

As we got very engaged in doing math, we did not get to do music this morning.  We will be making up for it tomorrow for sure. 

After recess, we had Hymn Sing.  We also worked with our Grade 1 buddies (doing reading) just before lunch.  In-between, we started reading a book about Viola Desmond.  As you may have heard, her photo is now on the $10 bill which was just released today.  We will need to finish the book as once again, time just flew by.

 

I could not be there in the afternoon today, but the students got a chance to continue working on their Beakerhead stories and also get ahead in their Raz-kids readings.  The day was wrapped up with Gym.

Another Christmas Card Contest!

As mentioned in the last post, there is another Christmas Card Contest.  Please see below the details.  Please have the cards in by Nov 22 as although the deadline is November 23 the Pony only takes mail on Tuesdays and Thursdays!  Should the students wish to submit a card then I can send home a release form.
