Lecture, math, musique, et une rose - Nov 15

Another day closer to the weekend :).

This Thursday was a day to try and wrap up some of the work we have been working on for a while.
Today, we started with reading.  I was absolutely impressed how quickly students got ready to read this morning.  This was a record, so they all deserve an extra high-five from home too. :)

In math we did a quick quiz on rounding to the nearest 10.  Rounding is a valuable tool to be able to do mental math when we don't have access to paper and pencil (or a calculator :)).  We will be practicing this skill a lot more.

In music, we once again worked on our recorders.  We are getting better at playing nice clear sounds.  We will continue to work through our notes and will practice more how to read them easily.

After recess, in French, we read more of Le Petit Prince.  The story is getting exciting as we have just been introduced to Le Petit Prince's rose.  I think we will make some of our own too if we have time. :)  We pause often throughout the reading to discuss what phrases and words mean as many of the words can be more difficult since the book was written in 1942.

Today, we also did some Raz-Kids to try and finish off our french books.

In the afternoon we almost finished our beautiful Alberta stamps in Social Studies.  I can't wait to share the work.  The students got a chance to explore many symbols (emblèmes) of Alberta and also experienced the challenges and successes of doing research on the internet as well as using books.  Now when we dive deeper into the regions, many things will be familiar and easier to understand and explore.

We finally wrapped up today with Gym.  Thank you Mr. Lurol for putting up with us when our energy is often very high at the end of the day.
