Pizza Party & Bonne Fin de Semaine! - Nov 16

The weekend has arrived!

Well, we had our Pizza Party today!  It was fun and apparently the best part of the entire week.😂  Nonetheless, we had a busy day today too.

We started the day with reading which we followed up with a math lesson where we worked on some mental math strategies to do addition with large numbers.  We covered some strategies today but we will be continuing to practice these skills and using them in word problems next week.

In music, we once again worked on our recorders.  We have covered Si and La so far and today we combined the two.  We are getting better at reading our notes. I will send home some practice sheets as well in the near future.

After recess, in French, we had our dictee and we read some more of Le Petit Prince.  During lunch I put on the song from Le Petit Prince (posted on the Chansons page) and many have started recognizing the scenes and characters from the book.  After the Petit Prince we also read a fun book called "Cours, cours, Nicolas".  The story is about a boy who does 6 extra-curricular activities every night of the week and how he manages it.  It is a funny story.  It was a great book to be exposed to some fun new vocabulary.
We wrapped up the morning with Religion.  We finished the video of Father Rob Galea.  We talked about how conversations are not only important with the people around us but also with God.

Pizza Party at lunch and then we worked on our Beakerhead stories using Google Docs.  This was our first time using Google Docs, but many of the students found it easy to use and even finished their stories.  I sent an email with how to access the Google docs and those who had a hard time getting started could use some help at home too to work on their stories.  We will be finishing the book by the end of next week.

We wrapped up the day with our English spelling test, a Sharing Circle and our Recycling team went around to collect recycling.
