We spent the day learning about electricity and Tesla coils (making music with them), plant growth and care, and most importantly how important teamwork is through a shelter-building task. We also made “seed bombs” and wind chimes.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and were very pleased that it did not rain though it was a tad chilly. Thank you to our two amazing volunteers who helped make this trip safe and fun.
Here are some photos :)

Looking ahead to October:
- French Language Arts - We will continue reviewing some basics and we will be also doing some "conjugaison des verbes". We will start our reading incentive. The program will be focused on French reading as that is a very important foundation we need for many of the other subjects we are working on. More details will be coming home next week. We will continue to have weekly spelling tests.
- English Language Arts - We will be working our reading and writing skills as well as reviewing the basics at the same time. We will also start working on our book that we will write about our trip to Beakerhead. We will continue to have weekly spelling tests as well.
- Math - We will continue to work on Patterns and Relations. We will be doing more review of our basic math skills and some of it will be going home as homework / extra practice. Looking forward to doing an art piece around the Fibonacci sequence as well. In addition, every Thursday we will have a math quiz on basic operations (multiplication, addition, subtraction - division as well, though that will be talked about a bit more later too).
- Social Studies - We will be exploring Alberta further next month and in particular learning about the Rocky Mountains and the history of Alberta. We will also try to incorporate some art pieces as we go.
- Science - We will continue to work on Waste and our World. We will start looking at composting, producers, consumers, etc. Ultimately we will try to come up with individual action plans on how to be more supportive of our environment. We are also very excited to be able to have a look at our classroom worms on Monday Sept 24 :).
- Art - We will continue exploring forms, shapes and designs (abstract and real) and connecting these to nature.
- Music - We will start learning the recorder next month. Please send a recorder with your child next week.
Have a wonderful weekend!
